This privacy policy explains how I, Charles Kelly, collect and use your personal information when you visit chvrleskelly.com or get in touch with me. I’m an independent web designer and developer, and I’m the person responsible for your information (the “data controller”). I keep things simple: I only collect what I need to reply to you and work with you, and I never sell your information.

What information I collect
When you fill in the contact form or the free homepage mockup form, I collect the details you give me. That includes your name, email address, business name and website, and anything you write in your message, such as your project details, budget or timeline.
If you email me directly or book a call, I’ll have the information you share in that conversation too.
How I use your information
I use your information to:
- Reply to your enquiry or question
- Prepare quotes, proposals and free homepage mockups you’ve asked for
- Arrange and hold calls with you
- Deliver and support your website project if we work together
- Keep the records I’m required to keep for accounting and tax purposes
I won’t add you to a mailing list or send you marketing emails unless you’ve asked me to.
My legal basis for using your information
Under UK and EU data protection law (the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR), I need a lawful reason to use your information:
- Responding to your enquiry, and preparing quotes and mockups you’ve requested, is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and is in my legitimate interest of running my business and replying to people who contact me.
- Delivering a project we’ve agreed on is necessary to perform our contract.
- Keeping financial records is necessary to comply with my legal obligations.
Who I share your information with
I don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. I only share it with trusted service providers that help me run this website and my business, and only as much as they need to do their job:
- Vercel, which hosts this website
- FormSubmit, which processes form submissions and delivers them to my inbox
- Google Fonts, which provides one of the fonts on this website; to load it, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address
- My email provider, which stores our email conversations
- A video call or scheduling tool, if you book a call with me
These providers only use your information to provide their service to me, and are required to keep it secure.
International transfers
Some of these providers store data in the United States or other countries outside the UK and European Economic Area. Where that happens, your information is protected by approved safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or by the provider’s certification under the EU-US, UK-US and Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long I keep your information
- If you get in touch but we don’t end up working together, I delete your enquiry within 12 months.
- If we work together, I keep project and billing records for up to 6 years after the project ends, as required for tax and accounting purposes.
- If you ask me to delete your information sooner, I will, unless I’m legally required to keep it.
Cookies and analytics
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The site may store a small setting in your browser (for example, to remember that you’ve closed the free mockup popup, so it doesn’t keep appearing). This stays on your device, isn’t used to identify you, and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you
- Ask me to correct anything that’s inaccurate
- Ask me to delete your information
- Object to or ask me to limit how I use your information
- Ask for your information in a portable format
To use any of these rights, email hey@chvrleskelly.com. I’ll respond within one month, and there’s no charge.
If you’re in the UK and unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). If you’re in the EU, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country. I’d appreciate the chance to sort it out first, so please get in touch with me directly.
If you live in the United States, you have the right to know what personal information I hold about you and to ask me to delete it. I don’t sell or share personal information for advertising.
Keeping your information safe
I take reasonable steps to protect your information, including using secure, reputable service providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS) across this website, and keeping access to your information limited to me.
Children
This website and my services are for businesses. I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
